okay this totally sucks and i only dedicated like an hour and a half to this, but it’s better to post this and let you know that i remembered it was your birthday, then let you think i forgot.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY DAVID!!

May you always be blessed, happy, popular, and may your life never run out of colour, especially brown and orange ;b

I wish i could say more, or do more, but i’m starting school on Monday, and we’re (as in my entire lazy family) are attempting to develop the habit of waking up early, so i have to go to bed now -_- i’d ask you if you like it, but that would be too much -_-

anyhoo, HAPPY BIRTHDAY AGAIN! <3 *panda XxX’s*

I won’t lie, i’ve been lazy in trying to develop Midnite Star’s method, partially because i’m a bad artist with no training of any sort, but more because i don’t have a solid image of what the Midnite Star should look like. I have an idea, but not an image, so its a hindrance in trying to create a method for an original character, and hence the original character itself.

The only wip i’m working on is my friends birthday present, and i can’t post that here or else he might see it. So this is a consolation drawing to keep this place breathing. Very quick sketch, i just used my ‘basic-sketch-brush’ O_O Hes Victorian (? i’m such an embarrassment to all those antique shows and period drama’s i watch right now)

Take care all!

My friends belated-birthday present sketch. I’m posting this so i can tell you the details here, instead of in the actual present post.

DETAILS:

Layers: 6 (8 if you count the photo and the color fill);

time: approx. 40min;

tools: photoshop

METHOD:

I traced the photo, by first opening the photo in photoshop, putting a color fill layer over it, and then putting a separate layer [lets call this outlines layer] over the color fill. I turned the opacity to 0% then traced the photo on the outlines layer. Then, i clicked the color fill layer, and then click ‘new layer’, this way, the new layer [color layer] came UNDER the outlines layer, rather than over. Then i preceded like this with the background and whatnot. At one point, the background layer i used to draw the funky background was kinda ruining the top color layer, so i made another layer over the background layer, and colored the places that were interfering with the color layer white….confused? Good :P

FINAL COMMENTS:

For the first time in my life, I really enjoyed myself coloring on photoshop. I finally understood how my artist friends managed to make the skin so real…they blended similar shades of a color. So yes, i enjoyed myself :D And i’m in the mood to finish my other friends belated birthday present too :)
